Planning and zoning Commission
Planning and Zoning Commission members are appointed by the Village President, subject to the approval of the Village Board. Current members are:
Mike Hammond (Term Expires January 31, 2024)
Patrick Kelsey (Term Expires January 31, 2024)
Marion Bond (Term Expires January 31, 2025)
Joe Yen (Term Expires January 31, 2023)
Ben Brzoska (Term Expires January 31, 2023)
Mildred McNeal-James (Term Expires January 31, 2026)
Tom Yakaitis (Term Expires January 31, 2022)
All meetings are open to the public. Meetings are generally held at 7 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in the Board Room at the Village Hall. Meeting agendas and Public Notices of these and any additional Plan Commission meetings will be posted at the Village Hall at least 48 hours before the meeting.
Planning and Zoning Commission Duties
The Plan Commission was created to provide guidance, direction and control of the growth and development or redevelopment of the Village and contiguous territory. The Planning and Zoning Commission has the following specific duties and responsibilities pursuant to the Unified Development Ordinance:
A. Make recommendations to the Village Board on applications for annexations, refer to Section 3.02 (Annexation Application).
B. Make recommendations to the Village Board on applications for preliminary plats of subdivision, refer to Section 3.03 (Subdivision Application).
C. Make recommendations to the Village Board on applications for special use permits, refer to Section4.03 (Special Use Permit).
D. Make recommendations to the Village Board on applications for variations, refer to Section 4.04 (Variation).
E. Make recommendations to the Village Board on applications for text and zoning map amendments, refer to Section 4.06 (Text or Zoning Map Amendment).
F.Make final decisions on applications for appeals, refer to Section 4.07 (Appeals).
G.Make recommendations to the Village Board on applications for planned unit developments, refer to Section 5 (Planned Unit Developments).
H.Prepare and recommend a comprehensive plan to the Village Board and propose amendments to the plan from time to time.
I.Other responsibilities as designated by this Ordinance or by the Village Board.
