The event is an excellent opportunity to spring clean or clear out items no longer needed while supporting the efforts of the event sponsor, the Montgomery Historic Preservation Commission. The $10 registration fee includes a listing on the Village's website and a 15-word ad listing types of items for sale, including the map of sale locations for shoppers to download, advertising in local newspapers, and supporting a great cause. Promotions will run in local newspapers beginning May 17, and maps with addresses will be available on the website on or about May 15.
The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) hosts a Community Garage Sale each spring/summer, typically in May or June, as a fundraiser for the commission. The garage sale is a community-wide event, with approximately 75-100+ homes participating each year. The annual event is a fundraiser for the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC). The HPC's mission to archive and maintain the history of Montgomery is made possible through fundraising efforts such as the garage sale, the annual Montgomery Fest Car Show, the Cemetery Walk, and community donations. For more information about Montgomery's Historic Preservation Commission and how you can support their efforts, email hpc@ci.montgomery.il.us.
Maps will be available at the Village Hall (200 N. River St.) and on the Village website during the week of the sale for the convenience of both sellers and shoppers. The $10 fee collected will be used by the HPC to help fund the continuing operation of Settler’s Cottage on River Street.
For additional information, don't hesitate to contact the commission directly at hpc@ci.montgomery.il.us.
