Free Paper Shredding & Document Destruction
Saturday, May 10, 2025
Bring your confidential documents or old files to shred and recycle safely - this free service is offered by the Village of Montgomery twice-annually for residents.
The Spring Shredding Event will occur at the Montgomery Police Department (10 Civic Center Ave.). The event will run from 9A-noon (or until trucks fill) on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The 2025 shred events are made possible through a partnership with Earthmover Credit Union and are open to the entire Montgomery community and the credit union members. Donations are accepted on the day of the event; the proceeds support a local nonprofit or family in need.
The Village of Montgomery contracts with Beaver Shredding, a third-party vendor, to provide free document destruction to residents twice a year (spring and fall). The shredding event will take place at the Montgomery Police Department, located at 10 Civic Center Ave. on the Village's west side. It runs from 9A to 12P, unless the truck fills early, at which time it will close.
PLEASE STAY IN YOUR CAR. Volunteers and staff from the shredding company will assist you in unloading your car and safely destroying your documents. Donation limits may apply. No more than two (2) banker-sized boxes of shredding per vehicle. This event is first come, first served. The event is subject to ending early if the trucks fill before noon.
This is a FREE event, but donations are welcome and encouraged to support the local nonprofit featured for the season's event, Earthgivers, a philanthropic arm of the Earthmover Credit Union.
Earthmover Credit Union and the Village of Montgomery co-sponsor the event. This year, State Representative Matt Hanson and his team are providing additional volunteer support.
Volunteers on site will collect donations (optional) to benefit a local charity. The spring beneficiary will be Earthgivers, a philanthropic arm of Earthmover Credit Union dedicated to supporting the community through grassroots fundraising.
Please stay in your cars, volunteers will unload boxes into the shred truck for secure disposal and recycling.
The fall 2025 event is tentatively scheduled for September 27, 2025.
