Overview

The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) is a Village President appointment and is subject to the approval of the Village Board. There is currently one vacancy on the Commission. If you are interested in finding out more, you may reach the HPC via email at hpc@ci.montgomery.il.us

The HPC operates the Settler's Cottage Museum at 198 N. River Street in front of the Village Hall. They are actively seeking donations of photos and other historical memorabilia that they will catalog and preserve for future generations. 

Additionally, the HPC organizes several fundraising events each year. 
- Montgomery Fest Car Show | Traditionally held the 2nd or 3rd weekend in August
- Cemetery Walk  | Traditionally held in early October
- Community Garage Sale | Spring or summer each year

Director of Community Development, Sonya Abt, serves as staff liaison to the Historic Preservation Commission.

Meetings

All meetings are open to the public. Meetings are generally held at 6:30 pm on the third Monday of each month at the Village Hall. Meeting agendas and public notices of Historic Preservation Commission meetings are posted at the Village Hall 48 hours before the meeting.
