In March of 2021, Sonya Abt began as the Village of Montgomery’s new Director of Community Development. Sonya possesses more than 20 years of municipal planning experience, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban and Regional Planning, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. In addition, she is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). She began her career with the Village of Carol Stream before spending 13 years with the Village of Bartlett and, most recently, six years as the Community Development Director for the Village of Riverside before coming to Montgomery.
