The much anticipated Mill Street Bridge Improvement Project is complete, and the Mill Street Bridge is now open for vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The rehabilitation project featured three phases of improvements in the downtown Riverside area of the Village between River St. and Route 25.
The project's final phase included installing new lighting features across the bridge; Frank Marshall Electric (Aurora, IL) completed installation and testing early this week, and the contractor removed the scaffolding. The bridge reopened officially on Friday afternoon, December 22. Those traveling along Route 25 or through Montgomery will notice the festive colored lighting features for the holiday season. The Mill Street Bridge Improvement Project included bridge deck patching, parapet wall repairs, expansion joint repair, painting, installation of safety railings on the south, and custom arched lighting to highlight the iconic bridge. No further closures are required as this project is now complete.
The Village would like to thank our many contractors assisting the project and the community for their patience as we rehabilitated this iconic and historic Montgomery bridge.
