[ARCHIVED] Montgomery Receives Silver EV Readiness Award from Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and ComEd

Montgomery-President-Brolley-accepts EV Award

The Village of Montgomery proudly announces its achievement of the Silver EV Readiness Award, recognized by the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and ComEd. This honor acknowledges Montgomery's dedication to preparing for the future of electric vehicles (EVs) and enhancing EV infrastructure to benefit its community.

The Silver EV Readiness Award is part of a broader initiative launched by the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and ComEd to support local governments in developing the necessary plans and policies for the growing adoption of electric vehicles. As more municipalities across Illinois prepare for the transition to cleaner transportation, Montgomery's proactive approach, including advanced zoning, permitting, and new construction actions that support EV integration, stands out as a reassuring sign of preparedness for the future.

"Receiving the Silver EV Readiness Award is a significant milestone for the Village of Montgomery," said President Matt Brolley. "Our participation in the EV Readiness Program has empowered us to implement critical strategies that support EV adoption and contribute to our long-term sustainability goals. I applaud the staff for their commitment to this project and ability to plan for Montgomery today and well into the future."

Through its involvement in the EV Readiness Program, Montgomery has completed an extensive checklist designed to demonstrate municipal preparedness for EVs. The Village has also benefited from ComEd's Fleet Electrification Assessment, which helps local governments plan the transition to an all-electric fleet. This assessment ensures that Montgomery is equipped to meet the needs of its residents and businesses as EV adoption continues to rise.

In addition, Montgomery received special recognition for "Electrifying Outreach" for extraordinary outreach efforts. According to Sustainability Specialist Cheryl Scott of the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, "During the ceremony, the Montgomery website was used as an example of great EV resources for resident use, and special recognition noted Montgomery's early press notification and engagement."

Montgomery's achievement in obtaining silver status underscores its commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future. The Village is now poised to lead by example, showcasing how thoughtful planning and community engagement can accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles and the necessary infrastructure.
