At the Monday, November 24, Village of Montgomery board meeting, staff presented a $2,000 check to CASA of Kendall County, helping its vital mission to advocate for the best interests of children in the local court system due to neglect or abuse. The donation is made possible by the Montgomery River Run, hosted by the Village and community partners.
Held annually on the first weekend in October, the Montgomery River Run continues a long-standing tradition of bringing the community together for a 5K, 10K, and kids’ dash along the Fox River, raising funds for local nonprofits selected each year by the run committee. This year’s event was more impactful due to the generous support of the race’s presenting sponsor, Montgomery Places Apartments, and the more than 250 runners who participated.
“This event wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support and participation of our runners – thank you for showing up and making every mile meaningful,” said Village Community Engagement & Event Coordinator Rosie Boeing at the meeting. “We are honored to contribute to CASA’s mission and help amplify the difference they make for children and families.”
This year’s race proceeds benefited not only CASA of Kendall County, but an additional donation was made on behalf of the race to the Montgomery Foundation, which funds community initiatives, scholarships, and programs that enhance the quality of life for its community members. The past year’s event has raised funds for local organizations such as Hesed House, VFW Post #7452, The Conservation Foundation, the Illinois Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors, and others.
The Village extends its heartfelt thanks to all runners, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners who continue to make the Montgomery River Run a meaningful event year after year. Plans are already underway for the 23rd annual race next October, to be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
