The Village of Montgomery was deemed the winner of this year’s Kane County Water Association Annual Water Taste Test Contest. Utilities Supervisor Jack Rosenstiel and Water Operators Dan Gier and Adam Hake entered a sample of the Village’s water in the contest, and subsequently represented the Village at the Kane County Water Association’s December 20th meeting. Water samples were to be submitted at room temperature and treated in the normally accepted manner for the particular community; the Village’s sample was drawn from the main tap at the water treatment plant. A panel of independent judges rated the water samples on taste, odor and clarity. The Village competed with nine other entries from communities throughout Kane County. As the winner of the competition, the Village will represent the county at the Illinois Section American Water Works Association’s annual spring meeting this coming March in Springfield, Illinois. In addition, the Village’s name will be engraved on a traveling trophy which will be housed here in the Village for the next year, and a permanent plaque was awarded to the Village, which is on display at the water treatment plant.
