The Village of Montgomery will host its 9th annual 5K River Run and 3K Walk on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 9 a.m. The Montgomery 5K River Run is USA Track and Field certified with computerized race results provided by Race Time, a premier race management service provider in northern Illinois. The race will start and finish at Village Hall (200 North River Street in Montgomery, IL). Advance registration is encouraged; however, registration on the day of the event is available beginning at 7:30 a.m.
The race takes place on both sides of the scenic Fox River through beautiful landscaped parks and residential areas. Awards will be given to the first two male and first two female finishers in the age categories of: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, 71+, as well as overall male and overall female winners. All entrants will receive a River Run t-shirt and refreshments before and after the race. Awards will be presented immediately following the race, in the plaza at Village Hall.
New this year is the opportunity for participants to run in their Halloween costumes. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.
Non-runners, pets, children and strollers can come out and participate in our 3K River Walk or the NEW 100 Yard Dash for kids ages 4-12. All entrants will also receive a River Run t-shirt and refreshments. Pre-registration for the 5K Run, 3K Walk and 100 Yard Dash is $20 for adults and $5 for children. Race day registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children. Children under three and pets are free. Register by September 14th to guarantee a t-shirt on the day of the race.
A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Hesed House in Aurora, which provides shelter, food and support for those in need in our community. Donations of non-perishable food items will also be accepted on race day.
