PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT FREE LEAF COLLECTION (curbside)
The Village's free Leaf Collection Program will occur in October and November. Residents can stay up to date on the schedule each year by following the Village's social media pages or website. Dates are weather dependent as an early snowfall may sometimes halt the program earlier than November. The crews will make one pass through the Village. All leaves must be raked curbside by 7A on Monday each week. The leaf vac cannot collect grass clippings, sticks, twigs, and other debris. Placement of foreign debris in the leaf piles will result in the crew skipping your address.
Additionally, crews cannot vacuum leaves within 10' of a tree, mailbox, fire hydrant, street light, street sign, etc. Therefore, do not park cars in front of the leaves to be collected, as our leaf vacuum will not reach them.
Leaves for curbside pick-up by the Village leaf vacuum must be in the parkway at the front of the property from which they originate. Do not rake leaves into the street or onto other lots.
The 2023 Village Leaf Collection Program has been extended until December 1, 2023.
REFUSE HAULER LEAF COLLECTION PROGRAM (bagged, collected on designated garbage day)
The Village's refuse hauler, Lakeshore Recycling, will pick up leaves each week on your regularly scheduled collection day for no additional charge. Therefore, there are no stickers needed. However, you will need to put the leaves in yard waste bags or marked 32-gallon yard waste cans with two handles. Bags must be placed at the curb no earlier than 5P the night before your scheduled collection.
2023 Refuse Hauler Leaf Collection Program is now open and will end Friday, December 2.
Please remember—leaf burning is prohibited by Village ordinance.
The village ordinance prohibits leaf burning (Village of Montgomery Code, Section 12-27). Leaves must be on the parkway in front of the property from which they originate (Village of Montgomery Code, Section 9-45). Please do not rake leaves into the street or onto other lots.
